Nightly crib check

Every night before I head to bed, I sneak in and check on Alexis (unless of course I hear her stirring and then I dare not enter and risk waking her). Some nights she has her face squished into the corner of the crib. Some nights, like this night, she has a leg out of the crib. One night, she had her leg out of the crib and then hooked her foot back into the crib (but of course I didnt know this so as I'm trying to untangle her leg, in the dark, without waking her, I am pulling and tugging and her leg wont come back in the crib. I used my cell phone to light up her leg and I discovered the problem. LOL) So, this is why I obsessiy check her each night, to see if she needs untangled :)

Can we go outside please?????

It starting to get somewhat nice outside. Nice enough to open the door. Alexis loves looking out the window in the living room, but the screen door is even better. The window is too high to see much and she has to stand on her tip toes. The door allows her to see sooo much. So anytime we leave the door open, she goes and stands and looks.

Alexis and her blankie

Alexis HAS to sleep with a blankie. It doesnt have to be a specific blankie (thank goodness) but she has to have one. I have 6 Amy Coe recieving blankets that we used to swaddle her when she was a baby and those seem to be her favorites. The blankies stay in the crib for the most part, but Alexis is going through a phase where she wants the blankie with her. I do not want a kid who drags their blanket everywhere they go, so this is a habit I am trying to break. When she wakes up and I go in her room, I see her standing in the corner of the crib waiting for me, and she is NOT holding the blanket. As soon as she realizes I am in the room to get her, she quickly dives to the floor of her crib to grab her blanket. I try to take it out of her hands, and she just holds on tigher. She cries and gets real upset. So I give in. She's been getting over being sick lately and has been extra snuggly so I am more willing to let her have it. (Updated: this was in fact a phase and she now drops the blanket in the crib when I come to get her)

13 Months

Jim asked me if we were going to do monthly pictures now that we have reached a year. I was undecided... And honestly, I had almost forgotten it was her "birthday" until one of my students asked me what the date was. As soon as I said the date out loud, I remembered. So as soon as I got home from school, I made DH help me take the picture. Since about month 7 I have needed his help to hold the sign since she likes to play with it. Normally I crop him out, but I thought this was soooo cute so for blogging purposes, I left him in.

Alexis and her chair

Jim and I went to a charity event for a little boy named Ty and there were several raffle prizes and I put my tickets into the Step 2 chairs (set of 2) and the Step 2 fold out couch (like a mother in law chair that every dorm room had at one point... only smaller... for kids). I really wanted the couch but we ended up winning the chairs. We put one in the living room for Alexis and we have one ready to go outside once it's warm enough. She LOVES her chair. She can get in it all by herself and sit like a big girl.

Easter Pictures

Alexis and her Easter basket... she LOVED playing with the eggs, carrying the basket around, and throwing the eggs...

She did NOT, however, love wearing the ears

She was a bit of a crab in the morning. She wasn't pleased I had taken her basket away so that I could get a picture with her. We had to wake her up because we had to get an early start on our busy busy day! Just like her daddy, she hates being woken up. And yes, this pic was taken AFTER the happy pictures with the basket... not sure why it looks like she LITERALLY just woke up... sigh...

Trying to get a family photo. Jim of course looks at the wrong camera and Alexis wants down... sigh...

Alexis wanted down so we tried the picture with her standing in front of us, but then the dog walked in and she was too busy looking at her.

My sister and I with Alexis

Jim, Me, Alexis, my sister Michelle and her fiance TJ

Great Grandma got her a Laugh and Learn Lawnmower and she LOVED pushing it around while carrying her pint sized basket (filled with peeps). She was happy as a clam.

Happy Easter!!

Easter then and now. Can you believe how much she has changed????

Meeting the Easter Bunny

We took Alexis to see the Easter Bunny today. She was smiling and waving at him while we were in line. But... as soon as Daddy put her on his lap, she freaked out. She wasn't afraid of the bunny, she was afraid of Daddy walking away. She was going through a VERY clingy phase. Let's hope this ends real soon.

St. Patricks Day 2008

"Mom, do I really have to wear this stuff??"

"Yay! She took off the hat and I got to keep the beads!"

"I can't believe I have to dress like this EVERY year"

"And where were YOU today?"

Her new favorite look :)

Snowed in

We are snowed in today! Our county has issued a snow bad restricting driving to essential travel only. DH had to go out to the car to get something and so he had to shovel himself a path.

Drinking the bath water

Yes, my child is odd... she likes to drink the bathwater... by bending forward and lapping it up (kind of like a puppy)
